The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina runs a Kids Summer Meals program, also known as the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), to provide free meals to children during the summer months when school is out. This program is part of their #StopSummerHunger initiative to ensure children have access to nutritious food when school meals are unavailable. The program provides free meals to children and teens at various locations. 

Cross Point has partnered with The Food Bank to be a site for this program. Come join us on Wednesdays this summer from 11-12for free, hot, and catered meals as well as activities for the kids! This program runs from June 18th through August 20th and supports kids 0-18.

We would like to provide food every weekend to children who are identified as ‘food insecure’ by teachers and guidance counselors at our local schools. The bags contain kid-friendly food for six weekend meals, and snacks.  You can DONATE to help purchase items (choose "BackPack Buddies" in the dropdown) or you can grab a card off the wall at church and return the item to the bin on any Sunday.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Amanda Hohl at Amanda.hohl422@gmail.com.

Items you can purchase: INDIVIDULALY PACKAGED nonperishable food items. The best items for Backpacks are: fruit cups, cheese and crackers, pretzels, cereal cups, oatmeal packets, cookies, granola bars, packable tuna salad kits, soup cups, ramen noodle packets/pasta bowls, macaroni and cheese boxes, and instant mashed potatoes.
